Chrontopic Cartographies

This research builds upon the AHRC Chronotopic Cartographies project. It is an attempt to explore ways of visualizing literary spaces and their relationship with time. An experimental, speculative approach has been adopted to create a series of interactive 3D ‘landscapes’ – which illustrate the changing temporal ‘landscape’ of texts. Users can see the way in which areas of the text ebb and flow (emerge and hide) as they explore and navigate through the narrative via a ‘timeline’.

Texts are visualized as a dynamic 3D topography a ‘landscape’. Hills and peaks emerge over time, to indicate prominent spaces within the literary space as the user moves through the narrative. [View Project]
